Cbank uncertain about Globexbank, Sviaz-Bank merger with DIA unit
BOR, Moscow Region, Feb 11 (PRIME) -- Russia’s central bank is not certain about feasibility of merging Globexbank and Sviaz-Bank with bank Rossiysky Capital, controlled by the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina told reporters Thursday.
“To merge or not to merge this is an issue which requires additional discussion, it’s not certain that they should be merged; if there is some synergy, added value, then yes, there is a reason. But this is not obvious yet,” she said.
In late January, state-owned Vnesheconombank (VEB), which bailed out Globexbank and Sviaz-Bank, said it would sell the banks to the DIA at a market price. VEB also said then that the government was considering merging the banks with Rossiysky Capital.
